Founded in October 2025, Upstart is a social project aimed at removing barriers to learning and applying entrepreneurial skills for students from underserved communities. For this, we seek to develop original knowledge resources and conduct targetted interventions to be able to directly work with students and hone their entrepreneurial acumen. This involves developing original knowledge resources to render entrepreneurial and business principles more accessible, including storybooks and informative handbooks that deconstruct the different elements involved in entrepreneurial ventures. We also aim to conduct interactive and engaging knowledge sessions to achieve better learning outcomes. Importantly, we aim to supplement these learnings by conducting expert-led sessions to ensure that students find the right guidance and mentorship they need for individuals with killer entrepreneurial instincts. Building on these interventions, we aim to demystify the entrepreneurial process for students through a case competition and have them pitch their own business ideas. With a network of established entrepreneurs who come to speak to students about entrepreneurship and its real-world applications, as well as fundraising endeavors to bolster support for our NGO partner’s ongoing educational initiatives, Upstart is poised to truly empower students from underserved communities to envision their entrepreneurial futures.
